The proposed Education Urban Renewal Area (EDURA) is based on the results of the Central City Study and delivers on the Mayor's 2011 State of the City Address to create a new URA focused on expanding Portland State University as a leading engine of economic growth, prosperity, and opportunity. The EDURA is one of many long-term funding tools that will create opportunities for job creation, for private investment and partnership, and for advancement of the city's urban universities through research and commercialization, expansion of successful facilities and programs and the continuing development of our regional workforce. This proposal advances our goal to be a globally competitive city, the city of cutting-edge innovation and culture, and a city that offers all of its citizens the most equal of opportunities. This is a timely, unique opportunity to use urban renewal as the catalyst to grow a great university, serving a great city. We hope you will take the time to consider the mutual benefits of the proposed URA.
